The second International Workshop on Vertical Farming (VertiFarm2023) will be held in Chengdu China on May 22-24, 2023, organized by the Institute of Urban Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences under the aegis of ISHS (International Society for Horticultural Science).

The development of vertical farming and urban agricultural industry must rely on scientific and technological innovation. To improve the quality of agricultural products and the core competitiveness of agricultural equipment, scientific and technological progress must be promoted through academic exchanges and then transformed into actual productivity. This workshop is a great opportunity to bring together researchers, technicians, academics, and other professionals in the field of vertical farming and urban agriculture to share knowledge and ideas, as well as discuss the state of the art and future perspectives.

The theme of the workshop is "Expanding cultivated land resources and greatly improving food production". The workshop welcomes scientific presentations on various aspects of vertical farming, including LED plant lighting, plant factory, intelligent equipment, intelligent robot, artificial intelligence, controlled environment agriculture, etc. Keynote speeches and scientific research progress reports will be presented to jointly discuss strategies for urban food supply and food security under the trend of increasing urbanization, decreasing arable land, and growing population. The workshop aims to help strengthen scientific and technological cooperation and friendly exchanges among international experts in related fields and promote the development of vertical farming.
